Fall 2018 Studio Update and Print Sale

I hope that this update finds you well and that you have had a chance to enjoy the cooler weather and beautiful colors of the fall season. As you may recall, I am on sabbatical for the 2018-19 academic year and am spending this time living aboard my sailboat - traveling and making work about water ecology. I am taking some "shore leave" this month to attend a residency in Quebec and give a talk on my bioluminescent photographic work at the Midwest Society for Photographic Education conference in Lexington, Kentucky. Below are a few more updates on my work, travel, and a limited-time print sale.

Hambidge Center Residency

In September 2018 I was a fellow at The Hambidge Center for Creative Arts and Sciences in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia.  My cabin in the woods, sans phone and internet services, allowed me uninterrupted time to edit several thousand photographs and write new text for my current project on water ecology.

D'Arts et de rêves Residency

I have been invited to be an artist-in-residence at D'Arts et de rêves in Sutton, Quebec in October 2018.  I will spend this time working on a new multi-channel video work inspired by my time on the water as well as utilize the Parc d'environnement naturel de Sutton to make new works about our relationship to water. On Friday, October 26 at 5 p.m. I will be giving an artist talk, which is free and open to the public. Please join me if you are in the area.

Exhibition in South Korea

Still from the film, Dart, created in collaboration with Hanien Conradie at The Global Nomadic Art Project

I am proud to announce that my collaborative video work, Dart, created with South African artist Hanien Conradie, will be included in the YATOO exhibition at the Science Cabin in Ulsan, South Korea, October 18-31. The Science Cabin is the science and arts convergence research center of Science Walden.

Return to Seasons Print Sale

If you have been following our blog or YouTube channel, you probably know that we lost our engine and had the unexpected expense of having to repower our sailboat home in September. In an effort to refill our cruising kitty, I have curated a small selection of photographs, created while sailing in Maine, New York, and Florida, that will be available at discount prices for a limited time. For more information on the print sale, please visit RTS Print Sale

Thank you for your continued support and for keeping in touch. I hope that I can see you in person, perhaps aboard Bear, for a sundowner in the cockpit this winter!
