Catch and Keep (Three Queens) are soft sculptural dress forms. Ocean wave forms connect these three works visually across space. These works evoke the landscape of the Virgin Islands and the complicated history of this landscape. Known locally as country policeman or hug-me-close, the catch and keep plant printed on the works reference the beauty and tragedy of many island nations whose lands bare the ghosts of sugar plantations and slave labor. Pretty to view from a distance, just like the catch and keep plant itself, upon closer inspection we are confronted with the painful truth that paradise holds.
