Catch and Keep (Three Queens)

Catch and Keep (Three Queens) are photographic, soft sculptural dress forms. Ocean wave forms connect these three works visually across space. These works reference the complicated environmental and cultural history of the US Virgin Islands. Known locally as country policeman or hug-me-close, the catch and keep cyanotype prints reference the beauty and tragedy of these islands places. Marred by the ghosts of sugar plantations and slave labor this landscape is beautiful to view from a distance, like the catch and keep plant, but upon closer inspection, we are confronted with the painful truths that this paradise holds.
